Distinguished Time Pieces With Nostalgic Traditional Features

Our meticulous Mechanical Cuckoo Clocks with their traditional designs and methodical movements add a sense of nostalgia to a room.  The sounds of the ticking clock can add a feel of calmness and further depth to the ambience and character of the room.

The swinging pendulum typically drives the mechanical movement and the mechanisms, from the ticking clock sound, the clock face hands showing the time, the cuckoo call along with the cuckoo appearing, to the functions of the other moving decorative pieces.  Weights hang on chains underneath the cuckoo clock driving the swinging pendulum through gravitational pull, and the weights slowly drop and reach the floor.  To rewind the clock the weights are simply pulled back up and the mesmerising motion of the swinging pendulum continues.

Wind-up Mechanical Cuckoo Clocks are a refreshing alternative to modern battery operated clocks, a great benefit is they have no running costs and of course they are a more environmentally friendly option to operate.

An example of a Mechanical Cuckoo Clock in our collection is the lovely ‘Farmer and Wife’ Traditional Black Forest Cuckoo Clock, a wooden cuckoo clock full of decorative features with a cuckoo sound to mark the hour and half hour.  The pendulum with carved detail and cone design weights sit below the clock, and as this is an eight-day movement cuckoo clock it requires winding only once per week.
